Luann, by Greg Evans (1988)

Greg Evans was born in Los Angeles, but moved to Australia with his wife in 1972. After years of teaching and traveling, they returned and settled in Colorado. Evans worked as a promotion manager and graphic artist for a local TV station, and created the newspaper comic strip 'Luann' in 1984 (an earlier strip featuring side character 'Mr. Fogarty' was already distributed to high school newspapers during that time). Evans' popular strip about the joys and pains of being an adolescent, was originally syndicated by News America Syndicate, then by King Features until 1996, and eventually by United Feature Syndicate/Universal Uclick.

The feature appears in 350 newspapers, and have a huge web following. Several book collections have been released by Andrews McMeel and Evans also wrote a musical adaptation called 'Luann: Scenes in a Teen's Life', that debuted in March 2008. Evans received the 2003 National Cartoonists Society Reuben Award for the strip. The artist is currently based in San Marcos, California.
