Born in London, Derek Charles Eyles was a British artist for Amalgamated Press. He was the publisher's best horse artist. He worked for Knockout magazine from issue 1, and he has also drawn for Wild West Weekly. He drew his first comic for Knockout in 1947, 'The Phantom Sheriff'. In the following years, he came up with 'Dick Turpin's Ride To York' and 'Buffalo Bill's Close Call'. He drew the 'Kit Carson' strip for the early issues of Cowboy Comics Library. Throughout the 1950s, he drew for Comet. Derek Charles Eyles was also a versatile book illustrator.
