Ian Falconer is a painter and illustrator. He has made many covers for The New Yorker, and his children's book 'Olivia' has won him the Caldecott Award. In 2001, Art Spiegelman and Françoise Mouly asked him to try his hand at comics, which he did. Together with writer David Sedaris he made the story 'Pretty Ugly', published in 'Little Lit: Strange Stories for Strange Kids' (2001).
