Toc Fetch, who uses the same name as his comic character ("because he is an honest man"), published his first comic in 1999. The story of 'Toc Fetch' is told in short but meaningful phrases, like Japanese Haiku poetry, and the artwork is done in photographic pen and ink, originally drawn on big format paper. Each page was made to stand alone and all together as a comic.
The story has an almost hallucinatory quality to it, telling the tales of people searching their souls and finding them in the shape of animals and archetypes. Fetch' photo-realistic artwork keeps the story based in some comforting version of reality though, which makes his work not only a joy to look at, but also intriguing to read. Toc Fetch has won a Xerix Foundation Award to publish the fourth comic in this series. The individual pages of his comic are sold in art galleries in Woodstock, New York, where he lives and works.
