James Brian Fitzmaurice was an early 20th century Canadian cartoonist. He often applied comic strip style and sequential narratives, which makes him one of the earliest Canadian comic artists. He worked for the Vancouver Daily Province in 1908-1909, and then moved to the east. His made many cartoons on political issues and social concerns give a view on the British Columbian political culture of the time. But he also tackled less serious matters, such as the wet weather and local theatre life. He died in 1926 at age 50 or 51 in Greater Vancouver, Regional District, in British Columbia, Canada.
