Bringing Up Father, by Frank Fletcher

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Frank Fletcher studied at the University of Missouri and later at the University of Washington. He began his career contributing to the review Art Director School, and then went to work in the advertising field. He was assistant art director of Pictorial Review and later on, artistic director of Saturday Home Magazine. He drew for Harvey's 'Blondie' comic books and for 'Daisy & Pups' at Junior Funnies. He drew 'Blondie', 'Henry' and 'Popeye' for the Golden Books collection. Upon George McManus' death, Fletcher commenced working on the 'Bringing Up Father' strip (as well as its topper, 'Snookums'), which he did from 1955 to 1984. He worked mainly on the Sunday pages scripted by Bill Kavanagh, while Vernon Greene and Hal Campagna did the dailies.
