Brad Foster is an American writer, illustrator and publisher of independent comics. Born in San Antonio, Texas, he obtained his degree in environmental design in 1977 and later also attended the University of Texas in Austin to study fine and commercial art. He began self-publishing his prints and mini comics under his own Jabberwocky Graphix label in 1976. Foster has since then also published the work of over 300 other artists.
In 1987 and 1988 he drew the 'Mechthings' comic book series for Renegade Press, and he was a contributing background artist to Jim Valentino 'Shadowhawk' comic by Image Comics in the early 1990s. In the 1990s he was making so-alled 'CardToons' from the clip-art files on his computer. He was a regular illustrator for the sci-fi magazine Amazing Stories (1987-1991) and has also made drawings for David Langford's 'Ansible' newsletter since 2008. Foster is the artist with the most awards for Best Fan Artist from the annual Hugo Awards.
Foster paid graphic tribute to François Walthéry in the collective homage book 'Natacha. Special 20 Ans' (Marsu Productions, 1990), which celebrated the 20th anniversary of Walthéry's series 'Natacha'.
