Johnny Red (Battle Holiday Special 1979)

Peter Foster is an Australian artist of mainly adventure comics. He was an art teacher at De La Salle College, became a professional comic book artist after moving to England in 1978. He worked for titles by DC Thomson and IPC, drawing features like 'Johnny Red' for Battle.

Back in Australia, he illustrated a graphic novel version of the Australian classic 'For The Term of His Natural Life' by Marcus Clarke published in 1986. With James H. Kemsley, father of cartoonist James L. Kemsley, he made the 'Ballantyne' strip for the Sydney Sunday Sun-Herald during the 1990s.

In 2020, he received the Ledger of Honour and was inducted in the Australian Comics Hall of Fame.
