Newsflash (Mad - German edition, March 2008)

Martin Frei studied for Graphic/Designer at the Johannes-Gutenberg-Schule in Stuttgart, while publishing his first comics in fanzines like Plop, Zebra and Lippe. His album, entitled 'Radiopolis', was published by All-Verlag in 1988. In 1992, he had his professional breakthrough with the Tatort adaptation 'Schimanski - Zweierlei Blut', which he made with writer Fred Breinersdorfer for the Ehapa Verlag. Then came the SF mystery series 'Gregor Ka im 21. Jahrhundert', which was published by Comicplus. In 1993, he cooperated with 'Astérix' translator Rubricastellanus on the Latin comic 'Ovids Metamorphosen' at Klett Verlag. He created the mascot for the VfB Stuttgart, and also drew comics with the character. His first big funnies project is the series 'Superbabe', published by Gringo Comics and Carlsen Verlag. He is an artist for the German edition of MAD magazine.
