Plácido Fuentes was one of the comic artists that contributed to the weekly comics supplement of the newspaper Información in the 1950s. Fuentes illustrated informative pieces on Cuban history, published under the title 'Episodios de la historia de Cuba'. He also made a comics biography on the Cuban revolutionary Manuel García Ponce for the magazine Hoy. Starting in 1959, he was present in Muñequitos de Revolución, the comics supplement of Revolución, with a comic about Juan Gualberto Gómez.
