'Tokyo Drifter'. French-language version.
Takashi Fukutani is a cult manga artist, born in 1952 in the prefecture of Okayama. After a troubled childhood, he launched the manga serial 'The Tokyo Drifter' ('Dokushin Apato Dokudami-so') in Weekly Manga Times in 1979. It tells the, semi-autobiographical, story of a marginal unemployed and obsessed man, who has experienced poverty and alcoholism. The series ran until 1994, and gave a humorous and uncompromising look of contemporary Japanese society. Takashi Fukutani died of pulmonary edema in 2000, at the age of 48.
