Torvald Gahlin was the author of the Swedish comic strip 'Klotjohan'. A character from northern mythology, the Klotjohan creature was first introduced to the comic world in Vårt Hem weekly in 1935. Gahlin continued his strip for 36 years in Dagens Nyheter, a newspaper for which he was a staff artist. Two years before 'Klotjohan', Gahlin had already created the 'Fredrik' comic strip, which ran from 1934 to 1973. Torvald Gahlin, a pioneer in Swedish comics, was awarded the Adamson (the Swedish comics Oscar) in 1970 for both 'Klotjohan' and 'Fredrik'.
