Garf was born in Poitiers, and studied Fine Arts in Tours. He participated in several student fanzines, did some coloring on 'Adibou: Musique' and worked for the Louxor newspaper. He started blogging his comics in early 2007 and participated in projects like '30 Jours de BD'. He co-wrote his debut album, 'Grohonk', together with JiCé. It was published by Makaka in 2010. Garf draws his influences from Franquin, the 1980s generation of Fluide Glacial magazine (Edika, Goossens, Léandri, Coucho, Blutch), Karali, Gilbert Shelton and F'Murr.
