Born in Manila, Diogenes Gelito started working in the comic industry in 1974 as an assistant of Vicente Catan Jr. He contributed to comic publications like Goldstar and Badjao, as well as Miranda Bookstore, R. A. Ravelo and Ace Publications. He was employed as visualizer and illustrator at Communication Foundation for Asia in 1979 and likewise at Convey Advertising Agency in 1986. Seven years later, he worked as advertising artist in Publicis Graphics, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from 1993 to date.
