Gielbé has been working as a cartoonist and comic artist in New Caledonia, a French archipelago in the South West Pacific Ocean, since 1995. He is the editorial cartoonist for his local newspaper, Les Nouvelles Calédoniennes. The paper also published Gielbé's strips starring the two native girls 'Aglaé & Sidonie'. These strips have been collected in book format since 2003. His comic strip 'La Tribu Mathuran' ran in the weekly Demain and in Nouvelle-Calédonie.
