Mike Gorman grew up in Winslow, Maine and Vienna, Austria. He graduated from Parsons School of Design in 1992 with a BFA in Illustration. Since then, he has been working steadily for some of the most prestigious publications in the country, including the New Yorker, The New York Times, and many others. Heavily influenced by a mix of MAD Magazine, Jack Kirby, Will Eisner, Robert Crumb, and Daniel Clowes, along with many years of "observing mankind at it's worst", he offers a critical, yet goofy/stupid vision to the world. He has made a selfpublished comic called 'Air Guitar' and the weekly 'You do the Math' series, which ran for 83 episodes in the Cleveland Scene. He has won several awards for his work, including 2 awards from the Association of Alternative Newsweeklies, The Society of Publication Designers, and had a piece chosen for American Illustration 24. He is also teaching classes in Illustration for the Maine College of Art.
