Cathy Guisewite is the author of the daily newspaper strip 'Cathy'. Born in Dayton, Ohio, Guisewite studied at the University of Michigan and got her degree in English in 1972. Afterwards, she worked as writer for advertising agencies before starting 'Cathy' in November 1976. With her simple, almost caricature style, Guisewhite has created a popular comic strip about the prototypical busy modern woman. She has won several awards with her comic, such as the prestigious Reuben Award for "Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year". At the peak of its popularity, the 'Cathy' strip was distributed by Universal to 1400 newspapers worldwide. Guisewite ended her strip in 2010. She lives and works in Los Angeles.
