Tomer Hanuka was born in Israel in 1974. He recalls growing up surrounded by American comic books even before he was able to read. After high school and three years of mandatory Army service, Tomer moved to New York City to enroll in the illustration program of the School of Visual Arts. Upon receiving his BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts degree), he started publishing work in various magazines, as well as doing his own comic books. Tomer has won the gold and silver medal from the Society of Illustrators. His work was also featured in American Illustration, Print Magazine and The Face. Around 2000 he self-published, along with his twin brother Asaf Hanuka, 'Bipolar', a comic series to showcase both of the brothers side by side. The series was picked by Alternative Comics at issue #3. Tomer is founding member and a regular contributor to Meathaus, a comic anthology of New York-based artists.
