Kenshi Hirokane graduated from Waseda University with a law degree. He worked in advertising before turning to manga in the 1970s. His debut story 'Kaze Kaoru' was nominated for the Shogakukan Big Comic Awards. His work is often full of social criticism. Among his best known works are 'Like Shooting Stars in the Twilight' and the serial about 'Division Chief Kosaku Shima'. Another political work was 'Kaji Ryuusuke's Agenda', serialized on Mr. Magazine.
