Hervé Despesse is a French comic artist, but he is best known for his work as a musician, either as lead singer of the punk rock band Starshooter, or as a solo artist performing under the name Kent. Born in the suburbs of Lyon, Despesse, who soon took on the name of Kent Hutchinson, founded his band Starshooter during his college years. They released their debut album in 1978. The group disbanded in 1982, and Hutchinson began a solo career. He eventually changed his last name to Kent Cockenstock, an homage to Hergé's 'Tintin' album 'Coke en Stock'.
Additionally, Kent has been active as a comic artists since 1976, when Dionnet published one of his pages in Métal Hurlant. His first comics album, 'Sales Amours', was published by Les Humanoïdes Associés in 1982. Two years later, the publishing house published his second book, 'Ma Vie est Formidable'. Kent eventually ventured in other artistic activities, and has published some novels. In 1986, he bid the comic world farewell and focused exclusively on writing and playing music.
