Leo Immerzeel is a comic artist and illustrator from Schiedam, who got his education at the Art Academy in Rotterdam. He published his early work in De Vrije Balloen and house organs of companies like Fiat and Texaco. In 1988, he launched his comic feature 'Vlotvetter en Van Krampen' in Aktueel. Three albums of this series were published by De Vrijbuiter. After three and a half years of 'Vlotvetter', Immerzeel began the satirical sports comic 'Sportshots'. In the second half of the 1980s he also ghosted Willem Ritstier's newspaper strip 'Bartje' for the newspapers of the Sijthoff Press Group (Rotterdams Nieuwsblad, Haagsche Courant, Goudsche Courant).
Since the early 1990s, Immerzeel has focused on his illustration work. He has designed thousands of wishing cards for Hallmark Cards Nederland, including the series 'Fanmail'. In 2000, he was also co-founder of TIMwe, a Dutch-Portuguese cooperation on the development of content for mobile phones. He makes his illustrations through ImmerzeelSvensson Illustraties, a cooperation with illustrator Ylva Svensson. He is also affiliated with the Hague illustration and designer's collective Unit C.
