Takehiko Inoue was born in Kagoshima in 1967. He became a mangaka and won the Tezuka Prize in 1988 for his manga 'Kaede Purple'. His break-though came with the basketball series 'Slam Dunk', which has sold more than 100 million volumes worldwide. One of this series' celebrity fans is North Korean president Kim Jong-Un, who is also a basketball fan in general. In his next major project, 'Vagabond', Inoue depicted the legendary swordsmen Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro. Returning to basketball, Takehiko created the series 'Real'.
