Takehiko Inoue was born in Kagoshima in 1967. He became a mangaka and won the Tezuka Prize in 1988 for his manga 'Kaede Purple'. His break-though came with the basketball series 'Slamdunk', which has sold more than 100 million volumes worldwide. In his next major project, 'Vagabond', he depicted the legendary swordsmen Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro. Returning to basketball, Takehiko created the series 'Real'.
