Kazuo Iwamura was born in Tokyo in 1939. He studied at the School of Fine Arts of Tokyo and started his career as an illustrator for children's TV programs. After a short stint as designer in the cosmetic industry, he fully devoted himself to children's books and comics.
He is the creator of the famous series 'The Mice' and 'Reflections of a Frog'. Through simple and endearing pictures he depicts the life of small animals contemplating the big questions of life. Most of his work has also been published in France.
Kazuo Iwamura lives in Mashiko, outside Tokyo, with his family.
