Jaca was born in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil in 1957. Since 1980, he has worked as an illustrator for magazines like Folha da Tarde, Diário do Sul, and Zero Hora in Rio Grande do Sul. He is a freelance comic artist and illustrator, working for among others Dumdum, Animal, Geraldão, Big Bang Bang, Mellitus and Front.
