Prince Axel by Roger Jay
'Prince Axel', from Bimbo.

Roger Jay was born in 1928 in Paris, and developed his artistic talents during his childhood. He began his career as a scriptwriter (for the film 'Les Mains Blanches', among other projects) and he was a theater actor. As a comic artist, he made 'Les Aventures de Pierre et Paul' with Jacques Guyot and René Goscinny for Pilote in 1961, and he additionally worked for Coeurs Vaillants and Lisette. His medieval fantasy comic 'Prince Axel' was published in Titan and Bimbo, both publications by SFPI, between 1963 and 1965.

Jay subsequently left Paris and became a teacher with Briey school in Meurthe-et-Moselle. He settled in Bourg twenty years later, and became head of the cultural centre ALATFA. Since his retirement in 1994, Jay has been writing historical chronicles for the newspaper Voix de l’Ain, and hosting a radio show on Radio RCF 01.
