Trent, by Eric Jolliffe

Eric Jolliffe was born in Portsmouth, England in 1907 and moved with his parents to Australia when he was four years old. He left home at a young age to explore Australia and eventually decided to study art. In 1930, The Bulletin published his comic 'Old Andy', which ran until 1939.

During the War, Eric Jolliffe worked as a camouflage officer in the Air Force. There he found inspiration for his comic 'Witchetty's Tribe'. In 1944, he started working for Smith's Weekly. Some of his comic titles are 'Jolliffe's Outback', 'Saltbush Bill', 'Sandy Blight', 'Andy', 'Tom Flynn' and 'Callaghan's Kids'. He additionally self-published his 'Trent of the Territory' comic book. Eric Jolliffe received the Stanley Award for Excellence in Black and White Illustration.
