Huguette Joly, who signs as Joly Guth, studied Decorative Arts in 1973 and 1974 and became a librarian afterwards. In 1987 her first comic was published in Pilote et Charlie: 'Corinne', written by Serge le Tendre. Two years later she started her first personal series, for which she did both script and artwork. This series, 'Croqueurs de Sable', was published by Vents d'Ouest. At the same time her comic 'Iris Magicienne' was published in the Japanese magazine Morning. An album was published by Kodansha in 1996, a publisher for which she also drew 'Le Monde Rond' in 1997. Afterwards, she focused mainly on illustrating for children's publications, among others for Ricochet and Lo Pais. Joly Guth's poetic oeuvre is characterized by its realism and aquarel colors.
