Johan Kiefersauer was born in Lenggries, Oberbayern. He spent several years in the Munich area before settling in Berlin in 1981. He has drawn his first comics in the 1970s for BLATT, a publication from Munich. He has since then contributed to many magazines and newspapers, such as Zitty, U-Comix, Kowalski and Berliner Morgenpost. He was co-publisher of Zomix (Munich, 1978) and Rad Ab! (Berlin, 1983-88). He drew the 'Birne' comic for the advertising comic Mike of the German credit union banks since 1986.
He has drawn comics with 'Dr. Bubi Livingston' for WAZ since 1990. He has been an artist on the 'Käpt'n Blaubär' newspaper comic since 1998 and he is also one of the artists of 'Mecki' in Hörzu from 2006. Kiefersauer has illustarted children's books for Verlag Carl Ueberreuter, Carlsen-Verlag, Alpha-Verlag and Semmel-Verlag.
