American cartoonist Woodrow Wilson Kimbrell, Woody Kimbrell in short, served as a tail gunner in the US Air Force from 1943 to 1945. He was the first cartoonist for the 'Little Lulu' syndicated comic strip, that starred the little girl created by Marge for the Saturday Evening Post. Kimbrell worked on the strip for the Chicago Tribune-New York Daily News Syndicate from 1950 to 1964, after which he was succeeded by Roger Armstrong. Originally from Oklahoma, Kimbrell passed away in Los Angeles, California, in 1990.
