Biff Bound by Sean

John Klamik was an American cartoonist and gay activist. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, where he studied at the Art Institute. He moved to West Hollywood in California in the mid-1960s, where he started his cartooning career. While working as an artist and Display Director for the Akron Stores, he combined his love for art and activism as the original editorial cartoonist "Buckshot" for the old Advocate.

During the next three decades, as "Shawn", he contributed mainstream cartoons to mainstream gay newspapers and magazines and, as "Sean", to more specialized gay publications like Drummer, Bound & Gagged and Red Tails. He also made murals, designed posters and illustrated stories by Larry Townsend and Roger Mays. Klamik died on 5 January 2005 in Anaheim, California, after complications brought on by lung cancer.
