Bart van der Kraan is a cartoonist and comic artist from Den Bosch, who operates under the banner Studio Bajo. He opened his studio in Geldermalsen in 1988, together with his wife Joop Reichenfeld. Studio Bajo contributed to alternative comic magazines like Striptuur, Kartoen and Verknipt.
They were however mostly active with more ecologically and environmentally themed comics for durability and environment centers like De Kleine Aarde (and their quarterly magazine Vaste Prik), De Grote Rivieren ('Joep voelt nattigheid') and Aktie Strohalm ('Het Flip Flop effekt'). Their strip 'Jan Sandaal' was published in Brabants Dagblad and Maas- en Noordkroniek, and for rally magazine Start 94 they made 'Ed Pallet'. Studio Bajo has self-published six booklets collecting these strips in the early 1990s.
These days, Reichenbach is mostly active as a fine artist, while Van der Kraan continues to make comics for clients like the Sunday paper Bossche Omroep ('Gijs en Gijsje') and the publications of several housing corporations through Nestas Communication ('Herman & Ed'). He regularly works together with his brother Nico, and is also for hire as a caricaturist and instructor at workshops.
