Noriaki Kubo, who uses the pen names Tite Kubo or Taite Kubo, is the son of a town council member in Fuchi, Aki District, Hiroshima. He broke through in the manga field through a contest, and published his first shorts in Weekly Shônen Jump Special from 1996 before beginning his first serial, 'Zombiepowder', in Weekly Shônen Jump in 1999.
'Zombiepowder' ran until 2000 and it was followed by 'Bleach' in 2001. This manga serial, about a high school student who fights evil spirits, is his best-known work. Apart from this successful manga serial, 'Bleach' has been adapted to anime (2004), two movies (2006-07) and two novels, authored by Kubo and Makoto Matsubara.
