The New Sultan's Suit (Contos para a Infáncia)
Catherine Labey was born in Évreux, France. Educated at Hervé Hersant's Academy of Arts and the School of Fine Arts in Paris, she began her career working in the creative departments of several advertising agencies in Paris in 1968. She moved to Portugal in 1970, and became a portuguese citizen in 1975.
Labey makes paintings, illustrations, graphic novels and graphic arrangements for books and magazines. As a comic artist she has made adaptations of classic tales and stories with writer Jorge Magalhaes. These stories have appeared in newspapers and magazines like Mundo de Aventuras since the late 1970s, and in a series of books published by Editions ASA between 1989 and 1994. She returned to painting in 1994 and specializes in watercolors of landscapes and portraits.
