Thierry le Chevalier

Carlos Laffond was born in Madrid. He made his debut in 1944 with 'Chorlito' and 'Gorgorito' in Triton, followed by 'Diamante Negro' in Rialto. Until the late 1950s, he continued to work for Spanish magazines, making among others 'Guillermo' and 'Juan Aventuras' in Chicos, 'Drake, el Pirata' in Flecha y Blanco and 'Numancia' in Baladin. He eventually settled in France and began working for the magazine Spirou in 1956.

Laffond started out illustrating several 'Belles Histoires de l'Oncle Paul', often in cooperation with his artist brother José Laffond. From 1957 to 1960 he illustrated the historical series 'Le Chevalier sans Nom', also known as 'Thierry le Chevalier', written by Jean-Michel Charlier. He was additionally present at Éditions Imperia with stories for the pocket book 'Oliver' and in the daily press with 'La Casaque Noire' (in L'Aurore).
