Fortunato Latella was the original artist and co-creator of the Italian espionage comic 'Frank Carter', which has appeared as a webcomic since September 2009. He cooperated with writer Carlo Coratelli on over 100 bi-weekly and then weekly episodes, and was replaced by artist Marco Perforato in November 2014. The authors raised a crowdfunding campaign for a first book collection in April 2014, that was eventually released by Red Publishing. In 2015, Latella returned to the strip, now drawn by Enrico Folli, as the colorist.
Latella has been active in the comic fan scene since 1997. He is a member of ANAFI (National Society of Comic Art and Illustration Friends), and regularly writes for the society's publication Fumetto. Fumetto also ran the first 44 'Frank Carter' strips in 2012. He also writes for the fanzines Notiziario GAF of Florentine group of comic fans GAF, and for Epierre's IF-Immagini e Fumetti.
