Southern Bastards

American comic book artist David Jason Latour was born in Charlotte, NC, and attended art school at East Carolina University until 1999. He had his first exploits as a comic book artist while at university, drawing for the student paper and creating his humor strip '4 Seats Left'. He created the short-lived series 'The Expatriate' with B. Clay Moore for Image Comics in 2004-05, and contributed to the Image anthologies '24Seven vol. 2' and 'PopGun vol. 1' in 2007.

After some jobs for Marvel Comics, such as the miniseries 'Daredevil: Black & White' and 'Wolverine', he illustrated Simon Oliver's crime graphic novel 'Noche Roja' for DC/Vertigo' in 2011. He drew the flasback sequences in R.M. Guéra's adaptation of the Quentin Tarantino film 'Django Unchained' for DC Comics in 2012, and created the "Southern fried crime comic" 'Southern Bastards' with Jason Aaron for Image Comics in 2014.

As a writer, Latour created 'Loose Ends' with artist Chris Brunner for 12 Gauge Comics in 2011 and did scriptwork for Marvel's 'Winter Soldier' (with Nic Klein, 2013) and 'Wolverine and the X-Men' (with Mahmud Asrar, 2014).
