Duke, by Frank R. Leet (1915)

Frank R. Leet was a staff artist of the NEA. He was the creator of comic strips like ' Isn't a Man Easy?' (1907), 'The Last Straw' (1908-09), 'Julius and Li-Lo' (1910-11) and 'Duke' (1915). Leet became ill with a form of encephalitis that left him with a palsy and unable to draw, thus his son took over the drawing of his syndicated comic strip 'Al Acres' (1916-1942) when he was just 12 years old. Frank Leet would do the writing and develop the concept and his son would do the drawing. He was the author of 'The Little Brown Dog' and 'The Animal Caravan', which were both published in 1930.
