Jesús Liceras López was born in Málaga in 1922. After the Spanish Civil War he left his studies of fine art to begin a career as a comic artist. Publishing house Valenciana gave him a chance to earn a living by drawing for Jaimito and other magazines. The great production he had to deal with and the low price he was paid made him move to France, after the death of his first wife.
He kept wandering from one country to another (Belgium, Austria, Italy, Switzerland) until he settled in Quebec (Canada) in the late 1960s, and stayed for fifteen years. There, he produced two comic albums with Robert Toupin, starring the character 'Ti-Jean'. In 1982 he moved back to Switzerland, this time with a new wife. All through this time Jesús Liceras kept on working as a graphic artist, doing designs, decoration, advertising and comics. His comics were mostly humorous but, in the course of time, he also developed a realistic style.
