Sonny Liew was born in Seremban, Malaysia. He studied at the Victoria School in Singapore, and then attended Clare College at Cambridge University in the UK. He published his first comic, 'Frankie and Poo' through the local tabloid paper, the New Paper. He eventually studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, where he graduated in 2001. Shortly afterwards, he was assigned to draw 'Iron Man' for the Marvel Universe Millennial Visions title.
His best known work is 'My Faith in Frankie', which he makes with Mike Carey and Marc Hempel for Vertigo Comics, and 'Re-gifters' for DC Minx. Financed through a grant from the Xeric Foundation, he produced his creator-owned comic 'Malinky Robot', which he self-publishes, and which has been published in Europe through Editions Paquet. Sonny lives and works in Singapore.
