Ma Long, whose real name is Yuan Jao-chiu, started his comics career in 1983, when his first work was published in magazines Sun Pao, Ming Pao and Sing Tao Daily. Since then, his comics and cartoons have appeared in albums such as 'Fifty Steps', 'Ma Long's Political Cartoon Collection', 'The Transition Period 1991-1992 Manhua Collection' and 'Humorous Cartoons by Ma Long'. In 1991 he became an editor for Fan Dou Magazine, and he also was an editor of Special Administrative Region Manhua Magazine in 1998.
