Jef Mallett is an American cartoonist based in Huntington Woods, Michigan, and the author of the syndicated comic strip 'Frazz'. The strip is centered about school janitor Edwin Frazier, and according to the author, largely deals with "discovery". The author's passion for bicycling and hanggliding is also incorporated in the strip. Mallett originally had an EMT training before turning to graphic arts.
He had a comic strip called 'Birchbark' in his local newspaper, the Big Rapids Pioneer. He worked for several regional papers, including the Grand Rapids Press and the Flint Journal, and debuted his 'Frazz' strip in April 2001. A self-taught artist, Mallett is also an editorial cartoonist and art director for Booth Newspapers. He has illustrated books for other writers, such as bestseller Mitch Albom, and wrote and illustrated the children's book 'Dangerous Dan' in 1996.
