Amoebe by Willem van Malsen
'Amoebe' (Televizier, 10 February 1966).

Willem van Malsen was a Dutch artist, painter and illustrator, as well as an inventor and writer. Born in Utrecht as the son of photographer Willem van Malsen, he worked in Paris, France, from 1967 to 1970. There he contributed to the political magazine L'Enragé. Around this time, he also drew for Dutch magazines like Vrij Nederland and Haagse Post. A collection of his comics for these magazines was published by Van Gennep in 1980, 'Nooit Meer Lijden'. In Televizier, he made a comic strip called 'Amoebe'. He has illustrated the work of writers like Mensje van Keulen, Gerrit Komrij, Cees Nooteboom and Kees van Kooten, with whom he also made the 2005 children's book 'Het Schaampaard'. He died in 2005 from a brain haemorrhage, at age 65.
