Frans Mandos studied Arts in Tilburg. Until 1944 he often worked together with his brother Kees from their atelier in their parent's house in Tilburg. He has illustrated, and sometimes written, about 11 stories for Uitgeverij Helmond in the mid-1930s. Among these illustrated stories, which can also be seen as comics, were 'Het Raadsel van den Knotwilg', 'De Speeldoos van Langelot', 'Aapje', 'Joop en Toop, de Tweelingen', 'De Toverstaf van Fatsrevot', 'De Firma Bultje en Aapje', 'Pepranoet en zijn Helper', 'Roosmarijntje en het Toverboek', 'Hoe Schors Leerde Toveren' and 'De Bewoners van het Vlashuisje'. Mandos was also an illustrator for Brabantia Nostra magazine, and a well-known glass painter, mural artist and fine artist.
