Boots and her Buddies, by Abe Martin (1946)
'Boots And Her Buddies'.

Abe Martin, whose full name was Edgar Everett Martin, was born in Monmouth, Illinois, in 1898. He studied at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, and in 1924 he started his comics career creating the newspaper strip 'Boots', about a popular blonde girl. The strip caught on and was eventually called 'Boots and her Buddies' (after 'Polly and her Pals' by Cliff Sterrett).

Boots developed into her own character, a witty, sexy girl who ended up starting a family. The strip was especially beloved for displaying the latest fashions and the Sunday page cut-out dolls of "Boots - best dressed girl in the comics." A spin-off was called 'Babe and Horace'.
