The British comic artist George Martin has worked extensively for the humour titles published by DC Thomson from the 1950s throughout the 1980s. He is also well-known for his long-running comic strip 'Bunion', syndicated in newspapers throughout Britain and abroad (Canada, Sweden, etc.) in the 1960s and 1970s.

One of Martin's best known comic book features was 'Greedy Pigg', that he wrote and drew for The Dancy from 1965 to 1971 and from 1978 to 1982. Among his many other Dandy features are 'Wiley Smiley - the Jungle Joker' (1952), 'Robinson and his Dog Crusoe' (1958), 'Mr Mutt' (1959), 'Jammy Mr Sammy' (1960), 'Sunny Boy' (1962), 'Desperate Dawg' (1973-86), 'Izzy Skint' (1975) and 'Jolly Roger' (1984).

Martin was present in The Topper with 'Captain Bungle' (1953-60), 'Smart Art' (1953), 'King Gussie' (1957), 'Julius Cheeser' (1957-68), 'Send for Kelly' (1961-), 'Arty' (1964), 'Customs of the Month' (1964), 'Old Batty' (1964), 'Ali Babble' (1966), 'The Bright Boys' (1967), 'Angry Ladd' (1968), 'Ali and his Magic Carpet' (1968), 'Super Specs' (1971), 'Dreamboat Bill' (1972) and 'Whistling Billy' (1973). Martin was also responsible for the cover artwork of several editions of the The Topper Book.
Martin's 'Young Sid the Copper's Kid' ran in The Beezer from 1964 until 1989. His other Beezer credits include 'The Banana Bunch' (1956), 'The Hillys and the Billys' (1956-58, 1961-64), 'Smart Alice' (1956), 'Oliver's Travels' (1958), 'Merry Hood and his Robbin Men' (1959-60) and 'Clockwise Cartoons' (1987-90). During this 1980s, Martin was additionally present in Champ and Nutty.
He should not be confused with the famous Beatles producer George Martin (1926-2016).
