Dubravko Matakovic is the leading Croatian underground artist active since the 1980s. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, and published his early works in magazines and papers like Studentski List, Polet, Mladost, Tribuna, Patak and Večernji list. Between 1990 and 2000, he drew a political comic strip for newspaper Nedeljna Dalmacija'. During the 1990s, he also started publishing in Panorama, VOX, Smib ('Super Di') and OK ('Desmozgenes'). Much of his work has been published in books since 1986, starting with 'Sabrana Nedjela' (1986) and 'Prot Pikčers' (1988).
