Glenn McCoy got his degree in fine arts and graphic design from the Southern Illinois University in 1988. His first professional job was as editorial cartoonist for the Belleville News-Democrat. After winning a national talent search by King Features Syndicate and USA Today in 1990, McCoy began drawing gag cartoons for magazines ranging from Playboy to Disney Adventures ('Disney's Tall Tails'). The National Cartoonist Society has named McCoy the Magazine Cartoonist of the Year twice. He has drawn editorial cartoons in the New York Times, USA Today and Newsweek. His work also frequently appears on CNN.

In 1993, McCoy began his comic strip 'The Duplex', syndicated by Universal Press. In 2005, Glenn and his brother Gary launched 'The Flying McCoys', a single panel comic syndicated through Universal Press to papers like The Los Angeles Times, Chicago Sun Times and Washington Post. McCoy is an editorial cartoonist through the Belleville News-Democrat. Apart from his comics and cartoon work, McCoy has also designed and written for several animation studios.
