Luke McDonnell was born in New York City, and raised in New York, Pennsylvania and California. He came to New York in 1980 to pursue a career in comics. He got his first job at Marvel, where he did some issues of 'Star Trek', 'Hercules: Prince of Power' and 'The Further Adventures of Indiana Jones'. He then became a regular artist on 'Iron Man' (1982-1985), as well as a fill-in on 'Amazing Spider-Man' and 'Daredevil'. He became best known for his work at DC, including 'The Green Lantern', 'The Phantom' and 'Suicide Squad'.
