Olendino Mendes is a Brazilian comic artist, who became famous for the terror and horror comics he made in the 1980s. His character sometimes had aboriginal characters, such as 'Piaga' and 'Uiara'. Starting in 1980, he contributed to several publications of Editora Vecchi, including Spektro, Histórias de Aléma, Pesadelo and Sobranatural. By 1983 he was also working for D-Arte, contributing to Mestres do Terror, Calafrio, Medo. In 1990 he made the comic album 'L'Aigle et Le Serpent' for the French market, in cooperation with Mozart Couto. Mendes had his own fanclub in the 1980s, who gave him the nickname "the poet of terror".
