Micharmut was among the generation of artists that renewed the Spanish comic scene in the 1980s. Born as Juan Enrique Bosch Quevedo in El Cabañal, Valencia, he published his first works in Els Tebeus del Cingle. This was the first alternative comic magazine from Valencia, founded in 1977 by Ignacio Errando Mariscal, which also featured the debuts of with Sento and Manel Gimeno. Apart from his self-published works (such as 'Bzzz'), he also collaborated with alternative magazines like Papel (1978) and Bésame Mucho (1980). From 1983 Micharmut regularly published his work in the magazine Cairo, for which he created such works as 'Glen Radar'. The same year he produced 'Dogón', which was his first work published in book format.
Other sporadic works appeared in Madriz (1984), Complot (1985), Imajen de Sevilla (1986), TBO (1986), Medios Revueltos (1988) and Viñetas (1994). Micharmut's books 'Futurama' (1985) and 'Raya' (1990) gathered stories which had previously appeared in magazines, completed with brand new pages.

Later on Micharmut published several works at Edicions De Ponent, such as 'Veinticuatro Horas' (1995), 'La Noche de la Rata' (2001) and 'Pip' (2004) The latter was a compilation of the stories featuring the peculiar character Pip that he drew for Camacuc in the early 1990s. Throughout his career Micharmut has persevered in his personal and experimental way of making comics. As a result his anti-conventional works are appreciated only by a minority.
